Data lakes simplify data ingestion by allowing organizations to store data without preprocessing as well as retention management, meaning companies can secure data access based on user identity rather than infrastructure, according to Sharp. Meanwhile, he said, the company's generative AI tool assists users by automatically generating configurations and queries, making data management more efficient (see: Cribl Raises $150M to Incubate New Observability Features).
"Customers are struggling to create their own data lakes," Sharp said. "It's not technically challenging, but organizationally, it turns out it's challenging. If you're not the cloud administrator, getting resources built for you in the cloud turns out to be a hard challenge. And it's easier for our customers who are already working with us to adopt a lake because it's just built into Cribl Cloud."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Sharp also discussed:
- The benefits of a turnkey data lake offering for IT and security leaders;
- How ease of use and secure access control make Cribl Lake different;
- The importance of data lakes in managing extensive organizational data.
Sharp helped Cribl became one of the fastest infrastructure companies to surpass the $100 million ARR milestone, secured more than $400 million in funding, and transitioned Cribl to a multiproduct data company for IT and security. He came to Cribl with an IT operations background and formerly led application operations at Cricket before becoming a product management leader at Splunk.
