Oil & Natural Gas Corp. is augmenting its Information Security Operations Center to serve its enterprise wide network, SCADA and business systems to enable detection of threats in real time, says A.S. Rao, CISO. "We have gone in for a hybrid model to build required skills to completely operationalize iSoC," he says.

"To protect such a sensitive domain it is critical to build capacity of resources in the areas of log analysis, incidence response and threat detection, Rao says.
In a video interview at Information Security Media Group's recent New Delhi Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit, Rao, discusses:
- The importance of information sharing with operational teams;
- A proactive approach to tackling threats with new technologies;
- The need for a crisis management plan.
Rao is an electronics engineer with more than three decades of experience in the fields of geophysical seismic data acquisition and well logging technologies, terrestrial and satellite communication technologies, video surveillance, radar-AIS network based offshore surveillance systems and IT infrastructure and SCADA Systems. After working at the work centers of various regions in the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, he recently became CISO of ONGC.
