Setting Risk Management Priorities

Angelo Longo of BetMGM on 'Figuring Out What Could Ruin You'
Angelo G. Longo, U.S. information security officer, BetMGM

The key to prioritizing which risk alerts require immediate action is knowing what your most valuable assets are, says Angelo G. Longo, U.S. information security officer for BetMGM, an online sports betting and gaming entertainment company.

“You need to figure out what could ruin you, what can or who can become rich off of you, and what regulations really drive your business, because then you get to the core of what you need to protect,” he says.

“You need to be able to integrate [security] tools into your processes, procedures and functions of your organization, [or] you end up just having a tool that's either shelfware or liveware that does nothing.”

In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Longo discusses:

  • Prioritizing the increasing number of risk alerts - and figuring out how best to respond to them;
  • The use of deception technology and keeping abreast of the shifting regulatory landscape;
  • What tools and processes he plans to adopt in 2021.

Longo, U.S. information security officer for BetMGM, has more than 30 years of experience in information technology, with more than 20 years focused on security. He has built teams and directed groups and projects, including large global initiatives. In his current role, he sets security strategy, leads infosec operations, maintains business continuity, conducts disaster response, executes incident management, performs cyber forensics investigations and develops enterprise security architectures.
